Cooling Water Pipeline
Dennis Southam & Associates were involved in the design of the cooling water pipeline in Singapore. The cooling water pipe was designed for a Combined Cycled Power Station. Pipe sizes varied from DN1500 to DN2200.
Dennis Southam & Associates were engaged to provide a detailed laminate design and resin selection. The client also requested for DSA to undertake a stress analysis of the pipe. This analysis was to ensure the pipeline was sufficiently supported. Test results showed that elbows were experiencing stress above the allowable code levels. Rather than redirecting and changing the pipe route to allow for better movement, DSA redesigned the elbow lamination. The new lamination would reduce the stress below the acceptable code levels. By maintaining the initial pipe route, Dennis Southam & Associates saved the client significant time and money. DSA’s ability to offer multiple solutions gave the client options to select the most suitable choice. The new elbow design allowed the use of the existing plan, preventing a complete pipeline redesign.
Dennis Southam & Associates can perform engineering internationally and to global standards. Project management is also available for complete turnkey solutions of projects. Contact us to see how we can add value to your next project.
