Detailed Design
Dennis Southam & Associates are experienced in a wide range of detailed design methodologies and can help provide innovative design solutions to a variety of engineering problems. We utilise our extensive understanding of the manufacturing and construction processes used in FRP to help provide workable alternative solutions to a range of engineering problems which may not have been previously considered. This process allows our engineering team to prescribe suitable variants such as diameter, wall thickness, materials and coating. The designs developed provide our team and end-users a better understanding of the project’s requirements.
DSA’s methods of analysis include an analytical design standard-based approach, while more complex engineering challenges are assessed with the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software. For FRP piping and pipeline assessment, DSA utilises pipe stress analysis methods to validate layout and thermal expansion suitability.
At DSA we use a range of the latest software for our design, drafting, and consulting work, combining new age technology with tried and trusted design methods to produce the best solution for any engineering problems. Some of the software DSA uses includes:
- Strand 7 for Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Caesar II for Pipeline Stress Analysis
- Mathcad for Analytical Calculations
- Maxtest for Material Testing & Logging
- Trilam for Laminate Analysis
- Solidworks and Autodesk Inventor for Drafting
